Introduction
Industrial pharmacy is the process which includes manufacturing, development, marketing, and distribution of drug products including quality assurance of the developed drug. It is much more than a single area of science; it encompasses a spectrum of diverse scientific disciplines.
The Department of Industrial pharmacy seeks to be a leader in international and national in the industrial pharmacy education and research by optimized teaching process in the field of industrial pharmacy, and being committed to provide the community through good pharmacy practice, linking with the industrial pharmaceutical sector in Egypt, and promoting the research work to solve and develop the industrial problems, in addition to focusing on high-quality education on undergraduate and graduate levels.
Industrial pharmacy is a discipline that comprises manufacturing, advancement, optimization, scaling up and appropriation of various drug delivery systems. The industrial pharmacy branch also covers the quality assurance, with its two branches: quality control and Good Manufacturing Practice, mainly to detect and eliminate any defects in the intermediate and final manufactured products. As long as the quality of teaching and learning in the highest priorities the department move toward select the best academic, research, and technical personnel.
Thus, the department team is highly professional, who continuously conducts research, and application in industrial pharmacy field. Industrial pharmacy dedicated to reaching excellence in education, research, and community involvement.
- Development of the student’s learning outcomes by introducing the basic processes of pharmaceutical manufacturing as heat transfer, mass transfer, evaporation, drying, extraction, filtration, and mixing.
- Learning more advanced processes like distillation, emulsification, crystallization, size reduction, and size enlargement, along with explaining the theoretical and practical aspects of the quality control and quality assurance of the different manufacturing processes.
- Learning The fundamental concepts of the importance of artificial intelligence in industrial pharmacy and its application.
- Getting a fundamental knowledge about the right basics of designing the pharmaceutical plantand the different manufacturing processes starting from the selection of the raw material suppliers until the distribution of the finished pharmaceutical products.
- Suppling the latest industrial pharmacy equipment that provides opportunities to MUST’s students for training, learning and application in an actual simulation of an industrial atmosphere with the processes and procedures that take place in the manufacturing world through (SEF MUST) student experimental factory who provide more facilities and services for MUST’s whether undergraduate, graduated, and, researcher
- The Department offers chances for training and visiting the different factory departments such as research and development, quality control, production, packaging, supply chain, and others. Where the student can be translating the scientific pharmaceutical discoveries from the theoretical research into practice.
